Tablet Presentation

Each Uncoated Tablet Contains:
Diclofenac Potassium BP 50 mg
Metaxalone 400 mg

Metaxaloneis the muscle relaxant drug and provide symptomatic relief from musculoskeletal pain caused by strain, sprain. It involves in the central nervous system depression.
Diclofenacis phenylacetic acid derivative and non -steroidal anti -inflammatory drug Diclofenac inhibit cox -1 and cox-2 enzyme and prevents the synthesis of prostaglandins
This combination has been used to get relief from the symptoms of musculoskeletal pain.

Indications and Usage

• Upper motor neuron syndrome
• Reduces pain in musculoskeletal condition
• Joint pain
• Fever

Mechanism of Action

Diclofenac inhibits the synthesis of prostaglandins by inhibiting the cox-1 and cox-2 enzyme and prevents the formation of PGG2 which the precursor for the synthesis of other prostaglandins. Metaxalone causes central nervous system depression.

Pharmacokinetics

Absorption: Both the drugs are absorbed orally.
Protein Binding:Diclofenac is mainly bound to serum albumin.
Diclofenac is more than 99% bound to human serum proteins, primarily to albumin. Serum protein binding is constant over the concentration range (0.15-105 µg/mL) achieved with recommended doses. Although plasma protein binding and absolute bioavailability of metaxalone are not known, the apparent volume of distribution (V/F ~ 800 L) and lipophilicity (log P = 2.42) of metaxalone suggest that the drug is extensively distributed in the tissues.
Metabolism: Metaxalone is metabolized in the liver whereas diclofenac undergoes oxidation and conjugation.
Excretion: Both the drugs are Excreted via urine

Side Effects

• Dark color urine
• Pale or yellow skin
• Stomach pain
• Anorexia
• Jaundice
• vomiting
• Diarrhea
• Heartburn

Contraindications

• Contraindicated in renal impairment
• Contraindicated in the liver disease
• Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity
• Contraindicated in pregnant women
